What this tool does
The Image Background Remover finds the main subject of your photo, such as a person, a pet or a product, and removes everything behind it. You can leave the background transparent or fill it with white, blue or any colour you like. Your photo keeps its full original size and gets no watermark.
The AI runs inside your own browser, so your photo is never uploaded to any server. That is why the first use has to download the AI model. Your browser keeps it, so later visits start much faster.
Example: a photo for an online form
Say a university form asks for a JPG photo with a white background, and all you have is a photo taken in your room.
- Drop the photo here and select Remove background.
- Choose White under New background. The colour changes straight away, with no second wait.
- Download the JPG.
- Frame your head and shoulders with the Image Cropper, then set the exact size the form asks for with the Image Resizer.
- If the file is still too large, make it smaller with the Image Compressor.
Always check the rules of the form first. Some offices do not accept edited photos for passports or ID cards.

Tips for a clean result
- Use a photo with one clear subject that stands out from what is behind it.
- Good light helps. Dark clothes against a dark wall are hard for the AI to separate.
- Fine hair and see-through things like glass are the hardest parts. Switch between Original and Result to check the edges.
- If the result is poor, try the other AI model.
PNG or JPG?
A transparent background saves as a PNG, because JPG cannot be transparent. PNG files are larger, so a big photo can grow several times over. A coloured background saves as a smaller JPG, which online forms accept. To change a PNG later, use PNG to JPG Converter.
