Why we built FreeToolBox

Most people need to shrink a photo, change a format or turn a few images into a PDF every now and then. The usual options are heavy desktop software or websites that upload your files to a server you know nothing about. We wanted something quicker and more private.

FreeToolBox is a set of small, focused tools that each do one job well. Open a tool, add your file, adjust a few settings and download the result. There is nothing to install and no account to create.

How the tools work

Every tool on this site runs inside your web browser using JavaScript. When you add a file, it is read by your own device, processed there, and the result is handed straight back to you as a download. Your files are never sent to our server, so we cannot see, keep or share them.

Because there is no upload, results are usually ready in a second or two, even for large photos. You can also use the tools on a slow or metered connection without wasting data.

All tools are free, with no limits on how often you use them and no watermarks added to your files. To keep the site running, we may show advertising in the future. Ads will never be placed inside the tools themselves.
