NUST aggregate formula
For engineering and computing programmes, NUST bases its merit mainly on the NUST Entry Test (NET). The weighting most widely published is:
| Part | Weight |
|---|---|
| Matric (SSC) | 10% |
| FSc / HSSC (usually Part I marks) | 15% |
| NET (out of 200) | 75% |
Aggregate = (Matric % × 0.10) + (FSc % × 0.15) + (NET % × 0.75)
Worked example
Matric 980/1100 (89.09%), FSc Part I 480/550 (87.27%) and NET 140/200 (70%):
8.909 + 13.091 + 52.5 = 74.5%
The NET decides most of it
Because NET carries 75%, every NET mark out of 200 adds about 0.375 aggregate points. That's why NUST merit lists move so much with test performance, and why taking the NET more than once (when allowed) can help.
Eligibility
NUST typically requires at least 60% in both Matric and FSc to apply. Check the current admission notice for your programme.
Formulas and test totals change, sometimes every year. The weights here are the most widely published ones at the time of writing; always confirm them in the official prospectus or merit notice, and edit the weights in the calculator if they differ.
