Four ways to split a PDF
| Option | What you get | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Every page | One PDF per page, in a ZIP | A 12-page scan of receipts → 12 files |
| By page ranges | One PDF for each range | 1-4, 5-9, 10-12 → 3 chapters |
| Extract pages | Your chosen pages in one PDF | 1, 5-6 → title page and results |
| Every few pages | Equal parts | Every 2 pages → one file per double-sided form |
Common reasons to split
- A portal limits the file size, so you upload a long document in parts.
- You only need to send one chapter or a few pages of a book or report.
- A scanner saved many separate documents in one long PDF.
- You want to remove pages: extract the pages you want to keep, or use Organize PDF to delete pages visually.
Does splitting change the quality?
No. Pages are copied exactly, so text stays selectable and images keep their quality. Each new file is usually smaller than the original simply because it has fewer pages. If a part is still too big, use Compress PDF on it.
Typing page numbers
Separate pages with commas and use a dash for ranges: 1-3, 7, 10-12. With “Extract pages” the pages appear in the order you type them, so 5, 1 puts page 5 first.
