MDCAT aggregate formula
Admission to MBBS and BDS in Pakistan is based on an aggregate of three results. The weighting most widely published under PMDC rules is:
| Part | Weight |
|---|---|
| Matric (SSC) | 10% |
| FSc Pre-Medical (HSSC) | 40% |
| MDCAT | 50% |
Aggregate = (Matric % × 0.10) + (FSc % × 0.40) + (MDCAT % × 0.50)
Worked example
Matric 1050/1100 (95.45%), FSc 1020/1100 (92.73%) and MDCAT 150/180 (83.33%):
9.545 + 37.091 + 41.667 = 88.303%
The MDCAT total has been 200 in some years and 180 in others; set the “out of” box to the total on your own result card.
How many MDCAT marks do I need?
Leave the MDCAT box empty and enter a target aggregate, such as the closing merit of the college you want from last year. The calculator shows the MDCAT score you need. With the example Matric and FSc above, an aggregate of 90% needs about 157 out of 180.
Tips
- MDCAT carries half the weight, so a few extra test marks matter more than anything else you can still change.
- Closing merits differ a lot between public and private colleges and between provinces. Compare with the right list.
- If your FSc Part II result isn't out, use Part I marks out of 550 to estimate.
Formulas and test totals change, sometimes every year. The weights here are the most widely published ones at the time of writing; always confirm them in the official prospectus or merit notice, and edit the weights in the calculator if they differ.
