How many hours should you study?

A common university guideline is 2 hours of self-study for every credit hour each week. With 18 credit hours that's 36 hours a week outside class, or 6 hours a day over 6 days. Lighter courses may need about 1 hour per credit; demanding ones like engineering and medicine often need 3.

Planning for an exam

Switch to exam mode and enter your exam date, the number of chapters, how long each chapter takes you and how many times you want to revise. The calculator spreads the work over the days you have left and can leave rest days each week.

Example: 12 chapters × 3 hours = 36 hours of first study, and revision rounds add more on top. Spread over 10 days, that's at least 4 hours a day before any revision.

Frequently asked questions

How many hours should I study per credit hour?

A common university guideline is about 2 hours of study outside class for every credit hour each week. An 18 credit hour semester means around 36 hours of self-study a week.

How does the exam planner work?

It multiplies the chapters by the hours each one needs, then spreads that over the days before your exam, leaving out your revision days and rest days.

What if the daily hours are too high?

Start earlier, keep fewer days for revision, or focus first on the topics that carry the most marks. Studying more than 8 hours a day rarely works well.
